SHANGHAI, Mar 20 (SMM) – On the whole, alumina supply is showing an upward trend. Some aluminium smelters in north China were about to run out of their raw material stocks, but they remained cautious about buying alumina from the spot market as they expected alumina prices to go down further in the future and feared that sharp cuts in alumina prices would negatively affect aluminium prices. SMM expects alumina prices to hold stable or inch lower this week.
