Republicans in Congress plan to vote against Trump tariff

Published: Jun 5, 2019 16:09
On Tuesday, US President Donald Trump (Donald Trump) announced that with effect from June 10, he would impose a 5 per cent tariff on all imports from Mexico. He also said that if Mexico does not make significant progress in preventing illegal immigrants from entering the United States, tariffs on all Mexican imports will rise to 25 percent on October 1 this year. In response to the tariff increase resolution, Republicans in the US Congress are said to have begun to discuss whether to take some action against Trump's recent protectionist threat. Because it could threaten the relationship between the United States, Mexico and Canada.

SMM6, April 4: according to foreign media reports, US President Donald Trump (Donald Trump) announced on Tuesday that he would impose a 5 per cent tariff on all goods imported from Mexico starting from June 10.

Because it could threaten a new trade agreement between the United States, Mexico and Canada.

John Thune, the Senate majority whip, says many lawmakers are concerned about the future direction of the tariff decision.

Republicans are now considering publicly condemning Trump in the form of opposition to the resolution, the Washington Post reported.

In March, the House of Representatives passed a resolution to prevent President Trump from declaring a "state of emergency" along the border between the United States and Mexico, but did not have enough Republican support at the time.

But now that things have changed, there may be enough Republicans against it so that they can have a majority.
