SOI Global to Resume Bauxite Production in Late September

SHANGHAI, Aug. 24 (SMM) – India’s SOI Global is expected to resume bauxite production in late September. 

SOI Global halted production in early June due to heavy rains, and the rainy season is expected to come to an end in late September, so the company plans to return online in late September. 

China Bauxite Imports Surge almost 70 Per cent YoY in July

The company produced about 500,000 tonnes of bauxite during the first half of 2017, down 50 per cent on a yearly basis. 

The producer cut output during the first quarter of the year due to weak demand in China, and plans to produce 400,000 tonnes of bauxite every month in the fourth quarter. 

The company now holds about 150,000 tones of inventories, and produced 1.70 million tonnes of bauxite last year.
