There was a fire incident involving a lithium battery energy storage container in Barban, Saucats, France last Tuesday. Firefighters worked for a day and night to control the fire, and fortunately, there was no spread of the fire or casualties. The cause of the incident is still under investigation.
According to the on-site firefighters, the lithium batteries inside the container had caught fire, which was also confirmed by the mayor of Saucats. The energy storage station had deployed nearly 50 lithium battery containers, with a certain safety distance between each container unit, hundreds of meters away from the forest.
Officials emphasized the effectiveness of the fire system, and firefighters did not attack the fire, as burning lithium batteries were not recommended to be put out with water. Instead, a protective curtain was set up around the container. Amarenco must analyze the water recovered from the bottom of the burned container.
