Prebaked Anode Prices Still Have Downside Room, Even After Five Consecutive Months Of Drop

SHANGHAI, Apr 13 (SMM) - A large aluminium smelter in Shandong province lowered its April benchmark purchase prices of prebaked anode by 520 yuan/mt MoM to 5,375 yuan/mt. As of April 10, the SMM prebaked anode prices stood between 5,375-8,800 yuan/mt (including high-end products for exports) in east China, versus 5,825-6,195 yuan/mt in north-west China.

The benchmark prices of prebaked anode have fallen for five consecutive months, with a cumulative decline of 1,825 yuan/mt. Given the lack of cost support and mounting finished product inventories, prebaked anode prices will still have downside room in the short term.
