[Tesla confirmed: the global standard version of Model 3 and Moderl Y only use lithium iron phosphate batteries] since the beginning of this year, due to the influence of Tesla Model 3 and Model Y using lithium iron phosphate batteries, the proportion of lithium iron phosphate batteries has continued to rise.

Tesla said in his third quarterly report on Wednesday that lithium iron phosphate batteries are being used worldwide for the standard continued versions of Model 3 and Moderl Y, and delivery is expected to grow by an average of 50 per cent a year in the next few years.

This news means that the technical route of lithium iron phosphate has been further confirmed by Tesla. The global standard version of Model 3 and Moderl Y using only lithium iron phosphate batteries may also give more American users a choice.

The latest Tesla three-quarter report said that without raising the price of cars, the move may boost profit margins.

Compared with ternary lithium battery, lithium iron phosphate battery has better safety and stability, and lower cost, but it is slightly inferior in terms of energy density.

As early as the end of August, Tesla announced that American users can choose lithium iron phosphate batteries when buying a standard extended version of Model 3, saying that they can get the car in advance. At the same time, lithium iron phosphate battery models have also appeared in the inventory of models in the United States.

Musk himself said he preferred lithium iron phosphate batteries, saying:

Because it can be recharged to 100%, while ternary lithium batteries are only recommended to 90%.

Since the beginning of this year, the installed proportion of lithium iron phosphate batteries has continued to rise due to the use of lithium iron phosphate batteries in Tesla Model 3 and Model Y.
