Brazilian rare earth miner Meteoric Resources has announced the results of the pre-feasibility study for its Caldeira project in Minas Gerais, Brazil, reaffirming its "world-class" scale and cost. The pre-feasibility study indicates that the project requires an investment of US$443 million, has a mine life of 20 years, an annual ore processing capacity of 6 million mt, an annual production of 13,500 mt of rare earth oxides, and an operating cost of US$9-10/kg (TREO).
Based on the above costs, the project remains profitable even if the TREO price is US$26/kg and the Pr-Nd price is US$67/kg.
