EU Set Regulations on CO2 Emissions for New Cars and Vans, Echoed Ban on Sales of CO2 Emitting Vehicles from 2035

On Tuesday March 28, local time, the European Council adopted a regulation to set carbon dioxide emission standards for new cars and vans.

It reiterated the phased and final emission reduction target: compared with 2021, the carbon dioxide emissions of new vehicles will be reduced by 55% from 2030 to 2034, and by 50% for new vans; carbon dioxide emissions of new cars and vans should be reduced by 100% from 2035.
