Another 40GWh battery project hit the ground and strive to be put into production this year

On March 21, Vision Power signed a cooperation agreement with the people's Government of Shiyan City, under which the two sides will carry out in-depth cooperation around smart batteries, zero-carbon automobile industrial park, green energy system demonstration and other fields, to help Shiyan transform green resources and industrial foundation into new advantages in the development of zero-carbon automobile industry, and contribute to the zero-carbon transformation in China and the world.

According to the agreement, Vision Power will build a zero-carbon smart battery industrial park in Shiyan City, with a total capacity of 40GWhh, to produce the latest generation of power batteries and energy storage battery products. Among them, the first phase will be the construction of 20GWhh, and strive to put into production this year.

According to the data, Vision Power, formerly a joint venture between Nissan and NEC, was acquired by Vision Group in 2018 and officially changed its name to Vision Power at the 2019 Shanghai Auto Show and became a division of Vision Group specializing in the research and development of power batteries.

Vision Power has set up 10 production bases in China, Japan, the United States, the United Kingdom and France, and the total capacity of zero-carbon batteries will exceed that of 300GWh in 2025.

In China, Vision Power has laid out two major production bases, namely Wuxi battery manufacturing base and Ordos battery manufacturing base. Among them, Wuxi battery manufacturing base, the planned capacity of 20GWhh, the first phase of the project 5GWh has been completed and put into production in 2021, the second phase of the project started in February 2022, the planned capacity of 15GWhh, will be put into production in 2023. The Ordos battery manufacturing base started in early 2021 with a total planned capacity of 20GWH, of which the first phase of the project will be completed and put into production in April 2022.

Overseas, according to the plan, Vision Power is building battery super factories in Douai, France, Sunderland, England, and Ibaraki, Japan.

Among them, the Duai plant will achieve an annual capacity of 24GWhh by 2030 and has the potential to expand its 40GWh capacity.

The Sunderland plant will achieve an annual capacity of 25GWh by 2030 and has the potential to expand its 40GWh capacity. At the same time, Nissan and Vision will work together to build a "microgrid (Microgrid)" project in Sunderland to create a 100% clean energy system through battery echelon utilization and renewable energy development, including a secondary utilization project using Nissan / Vision power batteries to help achieve the intelligent balance of the clean power system.

The Ibaraki plant in Japan has a planned capacity of 18GWH, which can provide a new generation of power battery products for 300000 electric vehicles when it is put into production. The first phase of the plant will begin mass production in 2024.
