In recent years, Chongqing University and Baowu Group have continuously deepened strategic cooperation in the field of magnesium, adhering to the combination of "production, learning, research and application" to jointly promote the high-quality development of China's magnesium industry.
In 2016, Chongqing University and Baowu Group carried out substantive cooperation, and the two sides jointly undertaken the "13th five-year Plan" national key R & D project "key technologies for the manufacture of large-size and high-performance magnesium alloy wrought materials." the project is geared to the major needs of the country and the main battlefield of national economic construction. The research on the synergistic control mechanism and alloy design of new strengthening and toughening of magnesium alloy, the preparation of large size ingot and deformed material, residual stress reduction and surface protection have been carried out. The developed large size wrought magnesium alloy products have been successfully demonstrated and applied in aerospace, weapons, vehicles and other fields, and have had an important impact in the world. In December 2021, Chongqing University, Baowu Group and other units jointly declared the "14th five-year Plan" national key R & D plan project "key technologies for the manufacture of new structural and functional integrated magnesium alloy wrought materials" was successfully approved.
In order to further deepen bilateral cooperation, in July 2020, Chen Derong, party committee secretary and chairman of Baowu Group, and Pan Fusheng, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and professor of Chongqing University. On December 26, 2021, the signing and unveiling ceremony of "Advanced magnesium Technology Joint Research and Development Center" jointly built by Chongqing University and Baosteel Metal Co., Ltd. was held in Guangzhou. The two sides will give full play to the role of the "Advanced magnesium Technology Joint Research and Development Center" platform, combine the R & D advantages of Chongqing University and the development strategy of Baosteel's new metal materials, undertake the major national strategic tasks, and make magnesium materials bigger and stronger.
On the basis of technical cooperation between the two sides, Baowu Group has made great efforts to promote the landing of major magnesium industry projects. On December 28, 2021, the Yangtze River Delta integration project jointly invested by Baosteel Metal and Yunhai Metal-Anhui Baomite annual production capacity of 300000 tons of high-performance magnesium-based light alloy and deep processing project started in Qingyang County Economic Development Zone, Chizhou City, Anhui Province. the total investment of the project will reach 14.8 billion yuan, which has been included in the list of major projects in the 14th five-year Plan of the National Yangtze River Delta Integration Development Plan. It has been included in the key dispatching projects of Anhui Province in the 14th five-year Plan. Baowu magnesium project is the key layout of Baowu Group to build magnesium industry chain and build "China magnesium industry". It will build a full magnesium industry chain from ore mining to magnesium alloy manufacturing and deep processing application, promote the development of downstream magnesium alloy deep processing enterprises, and strive to form hundreds of billions of new industrial clusters in the region.
