Indonesia GNI produces the first batch of nickel-containing pig iron

[Indonesia's GNI produced the first batch of nickel-containing pig iron] it was learned that Indonesia's PT Gunbuster Nickel Industries (GNI) first produced nickel-containing pig iron in North Morowali Regency, Central Sulawesi Province on December 13. The company plans to set up 52 production lines at a nickel smelter based on the rotary kiln electric arc furnace (RKEF). Among them, 24 production lines are expected to start production by the end of 2021, consuming 13 million wet tons of nickel ore per year, with a production capacity of 1.8 million tons per year.

It was learned that PT Gunbuster Nickel Industries (GNI) of Indonesia first produced nickel-bearing pig iron in North Morowali Regency, Central Sulawesi Province, on 13 December.

The company plans to set up 52 production lines at a nickel smelter based on the rotary kiln electric arc furnace (RKEF). Among them, 24 production lines are expected to start production by the end of 2021, consuming 13 million wet tons of nickel ore per year, with a production capacity of 1.8 million tons per year. The total investment will reach 2.7 billion US dollars.

GNI, which began construction of the project in 2019, is a nickel smelting subsidiary of Delong Nickel in Indonesia.
