Aluminium billet inventories jumped to 100,000 mt

Stocks increased 33,700 mt in the week ended January 23 to 100,000 mt

SHANGHAI, Jan 23 (SMM) – SMM data showed that stocks of 6063 aluminium billet across five major consumption areas in China rose for a third straight week, increasing 33,700 mt in the week ended January 23 to 100,000 mt. This came after an increase of 13,200 mt in the previous week.

 

Inventory

Foshan, Guangdong – 40,200 mt

Wuxi, Jiangsu – 14,900 mt

Changzhou, Jiangsu – 10,900 mt

Huzhou, Zhejiang – 23,000 mt

Nanchang, Jiangxi – 11,000 mt

China's Aluminum Exports Hit New High in April 2026, Up 15.4% YoY
According to General Administration of Customs data, China's unwrought aluminum and aluminum semis exports showed significant growth. Specifically, in April 2026, exports reached 598,000 mt, up 15.4% YoY from 518,000 mt in the same period last year, and up 23.3% MoM from 485,000 mt in the previous month, a substantial increase of 113,000 mt. This monthly export volume set a new monthly high since December 2024 (when exports were 506,000 mt). In addition, cumulative exports of unwrought aluminum and aluminum semis in the first four months of this year reached 2.054 million mt, up 9.1% from 1.883 million mt in the same period last year.
