[Minor metal] Operating Rates at Silicon Metal Producers in Hunan Province Drop to 32%

SHANGHAI, Oct. 14 (SMM) -- Operating rates at domestic silicon metal producers have changed gradually along with electricity price hike during low water period.
&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; According to a latest SMM survey of 17 silicon producers (total capacity of 120kt/yr), operating rates at silicon metal producers in Hunan province have dropped to 32%. At present, the electricity price is more than RMB 0.4/kWh in Hunan province. 6 silicon producers operated at full capacity, and operating rates at 3 producers were 30-50/mt, while the remaining producers have suspended production, with 4 producers have just stopped production during this month.
&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The online producers remained optimistic about price outlook, and they predict port prices for #553 silicon metal will climb to RMB 10,000/mt in October.
