






SHANGHAI, Oct. 12 (SMM) -- Domestic prices for silicon metal continued to climb slightly, and transactions remained stable.
Market players have accepted the increase in silicon metal prices, and higher offers raised by producers have also been accepted gradually. In Guangzhou city, port prices were RMB 9,600-9,700/mt for #553 silicon metal, RMB 10,1400-10,200/mt for #441 silicon metal, RMB 10,700/mt for #3303 silicon metal, and RMB 11,000/mt for #2202 silicon metal. The trading sentiment was brisk. Selected producers have raised offers for #441 silicon metal to RMB 10,300/mt, no deals have been done until today.
Silicon prices were stable in Shanghai and Tianjin regions, and were RMB 100-200/mt higher than silicon prices in Guangzhou city. Silicon prices in Yunnan province also experienced significant growth rate, and #3303 silicon was traded at RMB 10,400/mt in Kunming city; However, a local smelter in Yunnan said the offers were unchanged to a number of old customers.
Export prices for silicon metal climbed as well by USD 10-20/mt. Exporters were cautious about offers.
SMM believes silicon prices will continue to move up, and the export market is recovering as well.
