SHANGHAI, Sept. 25 (SMM) -- Yesterday, the National Association of Realtors announced the existing home sales in August dropped by 2.7% on a monthly basis to a 5.1 million annual rate, lower than expected a 5.35 million annual rate, and the US dollar strengthened. Furthermore, LME copper inventories increased significantly yesterday by 8,925mt, bringing total inventories to 340,875mt. In the context, copper prices plunged, and LME three-month contract copper prices dropped below USD 6,000/mt, and closed at USD 5,930/mt, down USD 245/mt. Today, SHFE copper prices moved down at a slower pace, and are expected to attract a large volume of buyers at RMB 47,000/mt, so any downward movement for copper prices will be limited.
