[Cu] Summary - 2009/9/4 Spot Copper Market

SHANGHAI, Sept. 4 (SMM) -- East China, traded prices for spot copper were in the RMB 49,400-49,650/mt range in Shanghai region today. Copper prices continued to fluctuate in the high level, and downstream consumers took a cautious attitude, resulting in general transactions. Traded prices for spot copper were in the RMB 49,600-49,700/mt range in Shandong region. Copper prices rebounded markedly, while downstream consumers stood on sidelines, leading to declines in purchasing volumes.

    South China, traded prices were in the RMB 49,500-49,700mt range for spot copper. Copper prices continued to rebound, but higher copper prices dampened downstream purchasing interest, leaving limited transactions.

    North China, traded prices were RMB 49,600-49,700/mt for spot copper. Copper prices climbed, but downstream buying interest remained low, causing weak transactions.
