[Minor metal] Manganese Plants Keep Offers Firm

SHANGHAI, Aug. 31 (SMM) -- Today, mainstream offers were RMB 14,300-14,500/mt for refined manganese. Manganese plants were firm with their offers upon optimistic price outlook.

    Manganese plants kept offers firm for two reasons. On the one hand, a number of steel mills began biding, improving market demand for refined manganese; on the other hand, total costs for refined manganese were almost RMB 13,500/mt, helping support manganese prices.

    SMM believes high costs and increasing market demand will exert upward momentum for refined manganese prices.
