[Minor metal] Trading Volumes Decline in Domestic Selenium Market

iconAug 25, 2009 00:00

SHANGHAI, Aug. 25 (SMM) -- Trading volumes began decreasing in domestic selenium powder, with offers at RMB 600-650/kg; demand for selenium dioxide was weak, and prices for selenium dioxide continued to slip, with mainstream traded prices falling to RMB 440-450/kg.

Domestic prices for selenium dioxide dipped due to falling downstream refined manganese prices and decreased demand. Domestic demand for selenium powder was slim, but suppliers were reluctant to lower prices given firm MB prices.

SMM believes any downward room for domestic selenium prices will be limited in the near future given firm MB prices and growing costs. Selenium powder prices will find support at RMB 600/kg and selenium dioxide prices will receive support at RMB 400/kg.
