[Minor metal] Lackluster Trading Activity in Domestic Refined Manganese Market
SHANGHAI, Aug. 19 (SMM) -- Transactions were weak in domestic refined manganese market, and traded prices fell slightly to RMB 14,500-14,700/mt.
Production materials costs are about RMB 11,000-12,000/mt at refined manganese factories, with prices at RMB 760-800/mt for manganese ore fines, at RMB 450-480/mt for sulfuric acid, at RMB 480/kg for selenium dioxide, at RMB 0.5/kwh for electricity, and other expenditure excluded. According to SMM survey, operating rates at refined manganese factories in Hunan province have reach 80% or above, leading to relatively sufficient supply in the market. As stainless steel prices fell, stainless steel demand decreased, and most stainless steel firms have had raw material inventories already, so their interests in purchasing refined manganese remained low.
