[Minor metal] Domestic Prices of Selenium Dioxide Down Slightly

iconAug 18, 2009 00:00

SHANGHAI, Aug. 18 (SMM) -- Domestic prices of selenium dioxide dropped slightly to RMB 460-480/kg given falling refined manganese prices.

Offers were mixed for selenium dioxide in the market, with limited trading volumes. A portion of traders or downstream users who purchased previously at lower prices intended to sell off, but no deals were made due to weak demand.

SMM believes downstream users and traders purchased large volumes of spot goods during the process of price rise, contributing to significant declines in current demand. However, selenium powder prices were still in upward track in international markets, with little possibility of downward trend in the short term, so cost prices for selenium dioxide still have further upward room, which will help support selenium dioxide prices to remain at RMB 420/kg.
