SHANGHAI, Aug. 12 (SMM) -- Selenium prices grew rapidly in domestic market. At present, selenium powder is traded at RMB 550-600/kg, and selenium dioxide is traded at RMB 460-480/kg.
As MB prices increased, import costs for selenium powder almost reached RMB 500/kg, and it will take about one month to arrive at domestic ports, so most importers became reluctant to import cargos due to increasing market risks. In addition, domestic suppliers were unwilling to move goods, so domestic supply tightened, and selenium prices soared as a result.
SMM believes selenium prices will likely rise further in the short term, but the growth rate will slow. Special attentions should focus on refined manganese price trend.
