[Cu] SMM Morning Review - 2009/8/12 Copper Market

SHANGHAI, Aug. 12 (SMM) -- China's imports of refined copper experienced declines during July compared to June, but imports of scrap copper reported growth, so the export and import data have neutral impact on copper prices. However, the falling wholesale inventories in the US dragged down stock markets, and LME copper prices moved downward as a result. LME copper three-month contract prices closed at USD 6,045/mt, down USD 35/mt. LME copper inventories declined by 100mt to 291,175mt. Copper prices will likely fluctuate slightly, but the upward trend will remain unchanged.
