[Ni] More NPI Producers Restart Production Upon Soaring Nickel Prices
SHANGHAI, Aug. 5 (SMM) -- The number of domestic NPI producers to restart operation continued increase from late July to early August after previous stock-replenishment and unit maintenance. According to SMM sources, 4 NPI producers with relatively large capacity have restarted production in China by the end of July.
Sources report that main products from these blast furnaces were low-nickel NPI, which will not be good news for current weak low-nickel NPI market. However, 3 NPI producers among these producers who restarted production will focus on the production of middle-nickel NPI in the future, and they said market demand for middle-nickel NPI kept increasing.
Output of these 4 NPI producers will not high during early days, but their total output of low-nickel NPI will reach approximately 40kt.
