[Minor metal] Silicon Factories Lift Offers, But Transactions Remain Weak

SHANGHAI, July 14 (CBI China) -- Domestic silicon metal factories raised offers, boosting the market sentiment. However, no deals have been made at higher price up to now. Downstream consumers adopted wait-and-see attitude.

A factory in Fujian said they have shut down 2 of their 4 existing furnaces, and they dare not restart capacity hastily due to current weary demand despite the high-water period in Fujian. This factory offers RMB 9,200/mt for 441# silicon at port, and the offer will likely rise further.

The upward room for high-grade silicon price was limited in Yunnan province. Inventories were about 10kt in Kunming, and limited transactions of high-grade silicon exerted limited support on market prices.
