iconJul 14, 2009 00:00

SHANGHAI, July 14 (CBI China) -- The strong US stock markets and falling US dollar boosted the base metal markets. LME three-month contract copper price closed at USD 4,900/mt, up USD 20/mt. LME copper inventories declined by 1,350mt, bringing total inventories to 257,225mt. Domestic copper market showed weak performance, and sufficient market supply exerted pressure on downstream consumption. Transactions are expected to remain weak, which will exert downward pressure on SHFE copper price.
