SHANGHAI, July 8 (CBI China) -- Manganese ore exploitation was hampered by rainstorm in Guangxi province, leading to possible tightness of manganese ore supply in the short term.
Currently, operating rates at refined manganese factories in Guangxi province were about 50%, and most of factories have inventories, as local manganese supply was always tight.
A local refined manganese factory said: “we only kept one production line into operation currently due to shrinkages of export volumes and tightness of raw material supply. Although the factories will not suspend production because of decreasing grade of manganese ore and rainstorm, their production enthusiasm is definitely negatively affected. ”
Another factory said they can maintain production currently. However, the flood season has finished, and the production recovery will remain to be seen.
Today, offers were RMB 12,900/mt for refined manganese in the market, and factories were reluctant to sell. However, scarce deals were made at high price in the market, and the downstream demand reported no significant improvement, leaving no upward room for refined manganese price in the near future.
