[Pb] The Rainstorm in Many Southern Provinces Has Limited Impact on Lead Markets

SHANGHAI, July 8 (CBI China) -- Rainstorm occurred in many southern provinces last weekend and continued its ravaging spree, which has exerted negative impact on the transportation capacity of Chengdu-Kunming and Shanghai-Kunming railways. CBI believes this issue will draw much attention, as most of the disaster-affected areas were major lead production areas.

Based on the transactions in domestic market during recent two days, the rainstorm had no impact on lead price. First, the damaged railway can be repaired on that day, and the local inventories were relatively higher, so market supply remained unchanged; second, the rainstorm had greater impact on local relevant production, but lead producers took specific measures to store the lead concentrate and coke, so any impact from rainstorm on lead production is limited.
