[Zn] China’s TC/RC for Imported Zinc Concentrate Moves Upward

SHANGHAI, June 2 (CBI China) -- Domestic TC/RC for imported zinc concentrate has risen to USD 105/mt from USD 90/mt since May and June. Sources report yesterday that China’s TC/RC for imported zinc concentrate will be lifted to USD 130/mt, due mainly to the eased domestic ore supply. CBI believes the production resumption of domestic zinc concentrate producers was very limited, and the rising TC/RC for imported zinc concentrate was also due to the sharp increases in LME zinc price. LME zinc price has risen by 10.3% since May 20th.

Domestic imports of zinc concentrate were 192kt during March, while imports were 350kt during April. Most of domestic smelters were pessimistic over the domestic ore supply. In this context, CBI predicts domestic imports of zinc concentrate will reach 250kt during May.
