SHANGHAI, May 21 (CBI China) -- Domestic silicon metal prices fell slightly, and the wait-and-see sentiment dominated the market.
Currently, port prices of 553# silicon were RMB 9,000-9,200/mt, prices of 441# silicon were RMB 9,400/mt, and prices of 2202# silicon were about RMB 10,300/mt.
The reserve program in Yunnan province mainly concerns select state-owned enterprises. The local government will subsidize part of charges for warehouse and transport, with the fund from bank loans. In addition, sources report that electricity price policy during high-water period in Fujian will be implemented in the coming week, and the factories will likely lower the prices.
Most of market players said recent purchases were limited. After the electricity price policy during high-water period is implemented in June, the supply will increase and the cost will decline, leading to high possibility of downward trend for silicon metal prices.
