[Minor metal] Manganese Prices up Slightly in Europe

SHANGHAI, May 18 (CBI China) -- Prices of refined manganese in Europe tracked the upward trend of prices offered by Chinese suppliers, with prices at Rotterdam rising to USD 2,250-2,450/mt from USD 2,200-2,450/mt, which is the first time for refined manganese prices to rise since January.

Traders in Europe said the transactions remained weak. The market prices rose slightly after the suppliers lifted their quotations. “The prices will last for some time, and the current price rose by USD 60-100/mt compared to previous levels, with the possibility of speculative factors.”

The sluggish European stainless steel industry contributed to the weary refined manganese market, and the prices were around USD 2,400/mt, with limited trading volumes.
