SHANGHAI, May 11 (CBI China) -- Domestic prices of silicon metal remained stable temporarily. Prices were RMB 9,200-9,400/mt for 553# spot silicon, while the high-grade inventories were limited at port, with the price at RMB 10,400/mt.

A consuming factory in Shanghai said: “our recent purchase was stable, with two time every month and no changes in the price. The high-water period is coming, so the price will likely fall slightly.”

A trader in Guangzhou said the port inventory pressure remained great, leading to thin possibility of price surge. The market players were pessimistic toward the price as the high-water period is coming, and the buyers were very cautious.

A exporter was agree with the view, “the price in the international markets was lower than selling price in domestic market, and the orders were very small, so everybody was waiting for the further declines in the price. However, the downward room for the price will be uncertain, since the current operating rates were very low, and the prices were close to the cost line.”
