[Minor metal] Sulfuric Acid Market Shows Weak Performance This Week

SHANGHAI, May 6 (CBI China) -- This week, sulfuric acid price was still in downward track in domestic market, and the price continued to dip slightly, especially in East China and Central China. Domestic price was RMB 150-380/mt for 98% sulfuric acid, with lower price at RMB 130/mt.

As 70% of domestic sulfuric acid was supplied to fertilizer producers, weakened fertilizer demand was a major factor for the sulfuric acid price declines. Meanwhile, the low-priced imported sulfuric acid created great pressure to sulfuric acid producers in coastal areas. There is thin possibility sulfuric acid market will improve in the short term.

Domestic fertilizer demand will continued to decrease in May, while the slight recovery of non-ferrous metal and chemical industries will exert very limited positive impact on the overall sulfuric acid market. Recently, the sulfuric acid price experienced declines in all regional markets, and the sales became weak, coupled with increases in imported sulfuric acid resources, the sulfuric acid market became deteriorating. The market insiders said domestic sulfuric acid market will remain sluggish in 2Q, with thin possibility of improvements in the short term.
