iconMay 6, 2009 00:00

SHANXI, May 6 -- It is reported that in recent period, coke stock has been decreasing sharply both at each coking enterprise and steel mills, but the coking industry is still in severe loss, particularly in Shanxi. Under such circumstances, Shanxi Coking Industry Alliance raised coke price for May by CNY 30 per tonne to CNY 50 per tonne.

As per report, the whole industry will continue to follow the production cut strategy, and make the range in line with the lowest level in April so as to prevent coking price from rebounding. Production in China's Hebei, Inner Mongolia will be cut by a larger range to stay in line with the overall trend.

Owing to the variation in coke quality, cost and transportation, coke price in Hebei, Shandong and Inner Mongolia is raised, since May 1st by CNY 30 per tonne from the price in Apr, and in Shanxi and Shaanxi it is raised by CNY 60 per tonne from a month earlier.
