SHANGHAI, Apr. 29 (CBI China) -- This week, sulfuric acid prices continued to fall in Central China, dragging down the market prices in East China, and the demand was weak as well. The prices remained stable in other regions, but the weakening demand for fertilizer contributed to the sluggish domestic sulfuric acid market.
Domestic demand for fertilizer became weak after mid-April, although textile, nonferrous metal, chemical and other sectors will experience improvements, 70% of sulfuric acid are used for fertilizer production. Hence, any positive impact from the improvements in chemical sectors on sulfuric acid market will be limited. Recently, sulfuric acid prices experienced declines in all regions in China, causing domestic sulfuric acid entering the off-peak period. Additionally, the continuous increases in imported sulfuric acid recently exerted negative impact on the weak sulfuric acid market as well. Market insiders said domestic sulfuric acid market will remain depressed during 2Q, with very limited improvements in the short term.
