Snowfalls in Hubei Province Have No Impact on Local Copper Production

iconDec 20, 2010 00:00

SHANGHAI, Dec. 20 (SMM) - Hubei province has recently been hit by heavy snows, so SMM contacted Daye Nonferrous Metals Company to understand local conditions.  One person from the company said production has not been affected since the snows so far have been light.
Although temperatures in Hubei province set new lows during recent heavy snows, the local  provincial transportation department had already made emergency response plans in advance to ensure safe transportation during bad weather.

The source from Daye Nonferrous Metals Company also added that existing raw material supply at the company is sufficient, so production will not be affected.  In addition, deliveries by the company have also not been affected by the weather.

In other news, the company is negotiating with downstream processing enterprises over  premiums for 2011 copper contracts.  Since spot market is at slight discounts on the average for 2010, upstream and downstream producers are divided on the issue, resulting in slow progress in negotiations.
