SHANGHAI, Sept. 10 (SMM) -- The US government announced on Thursday that the US initial jobless claims fell to 451,000 in the week ending September 4th, stronger than forecast. Meanwhile, the US trade deficit contracted sharply in July, posting its biggest drop in 17 months. The positive news helped boost the US stock markets, with Dow Jones Industrial Average rising by 28.23 points, but LME base metals prices failed to reverse significant losses recorded in early Asian trading hours, with LME zinc prices finally closing at USD 2,145/mt, down USD 70/mt.
