HONG KONG, Aug 17 (Reuters) –

Chinese mining and construction firm Metallurgical Corporation of China Ltd (MCC) (1618.HK) said on Tuesday that operations at its copper and zinc mines in Pakistan had not been affected by recent flooding.

"Production has not been affected because the floods did not reach that area," MCC Vice-President Huang Dan told Reuters.

But the two mines faced uncertain transport conditions given that flooding was expanding, she said.

Flooding has already disrupted the lives of at least a tenth of Pakistan's 170 million people. Hundreds of villages have been marooned and highways have been damaged.

Huang said MCC's two mines were located in the Balochistan area, the northeastern part of Pakistan.

The zinc mine is MCC majority-owned and produced about 13,000 tonnes of zinc concentrates in the first half of the year. The concentrates were shipped back to China.

That mine started production at the end of last year and has a designed capacity of about 70,000 tonnes of zinc in concentrate a year.

MCC's copper mine currently produces 18,000 tonnes of copper, 2 tonnes of gold and 3 tonnes of silver a year.
