Japan June Zinc Production Down 1% On Month -METI

SINGAPORE, July 30 -- Japan's June zinc production fell 1% from a month earlier to 51,008 metric tons, according to preliminary data released Friday by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.

Production was up 1% compared with last June.

Shipments from Japanese zinc smelters rose 2% on month and 1% on year to 49,106 tons in June.

June zinc inventories were up 9% on month but down 59% on year at 23,433 tons.

At 0315 GMT, London Metal Exchange three-month zinc was at $1,966/ton, down $24 since Thursday's kerb.
