SHANGHAI, July 28 (SMM) -- Silicon metal export market was still sluggish in the spot market, and overseas enquiries were quiet. Transactions were done in small volumes and overall trading sentiment was extremely sluggish.

According to SMM latest mainstream FOB at Huangpu port, prices were between USD 2,070-2,130/mt for #553 silicon metal, between USD 2,200-2,250/mt for #441 silicon metal, between USD 2,300-2,350/mt for #3303 silicon metal and between USD 2,400-2,450/mt for #2202 silicon metal.

Silicon metal export market continued to be sluggish due to the impact of summer break in Japan, South Korea, the EU and the US. The sluggish market is also due to stricter custom clearance. Inventories were relatively low at domestic goods holders, and they only replenish stocks after they have received orders. SMM believes that export silicon metal prices will continue to stay stable if domestic silicon metal prices still hover without clear direction.
