China's Jinchuan Starts Mineral Processing Of Copper Residue

SHANGHAI, Jul 18, 2010 (Dow Jones Commodities News via Comtex) -- Jinchuan Group Ltd., China's largest nickel and third-largest copper producer, has started mineral processing of its copper residue, with an expected annual capacity of 1.1 million metric tons, the company said over the weekend.

More than 10,000 tons of copper is expected to be recycled from the residue per year, with the tailings to be used as raw material for cement making, it said in a statement.

Jinchuan has an annual capacity of 150,000 tons of nickel, 400,000 tons of copper and 8,000 tons of cobalt.
