HAMBURG July 16 (Reuters) - Europe's largest copper smelter Aurubis (NAFG.DE) said on Friday it expected to lose the equivalent of one day's copper output after an accident at its main plant in Hamburg.

About 1,300 tonnes of copper output would be lost, the company said in a statement. The Hamburg plant produces about 380,000 tonnes of copper annually and processes about one million tonnes of copper concentrate per year.

The company said earlier on Friday it had stopped copper concentrate smelting at the Hamburg plant after an accident in a smelter late on Tuesday. [ID:nLDE66F0F5]

Aurubis said in a statement it expected repairs to be completed by midday Monday.
