SHANGHAI, July 13 (SMM) – Based on data from the China Automotive Technology and Research Center (CATARC), during the 1H 2010, China’s automobile output was 8.47 million vehicles, up 44.37% YoY, and with 7.19 million vehicles sold, up 30.45% YoY. These results keep China at the top of global automobile markets. However, China’s automobile output was down 1.41% from May, with 1.29 million vehicles manufactured in June, and with 1.13 million vehicles sold, down 5.25% on a monthly basis. This was the third consecutive month of decline, and an indication that China’s automobile industry is facing strong challenges.
At present, China is continuing subsidy programs for low-emission and new-energy use automobiles, but the positive impact from those incentives is likely to fall. Hence, SMM believes development of China’s automobile industry and demand for automobile lead-acid batteries will continue to grow at reasonable rates during 2H 2010.
