SHANGHAI, Jun. 29 (SMM) -- SMM conducted a survey of 11 silicon metal producers (total capacity 186.3kt) in southeast China revealed that operating rates in June of this region were 20.42%, up 2.3% MoM.
Operating rates at silicon metal producers in May and June were extremely low in that region, which is mainly due to high operating rates caused by electricity price hikes. In addition, a large scale silicon metal producer in Shibing county has been out of production since April due to environmental crackdown, greatly affecting the recovery of operating rates at that region. According to SMM sources, producers in that region still don't know the exact high-water period electrify price charges in June, and the specific prices will be known when electricity prices are settled down in early July.
