Ukraine Jan-May Alumina Exports Up 4.7% On Year To 0.58M Tons

MOSCOW, June 25 -- Ukraine exported in January-May 575,420 metric tons of alumina, 4.7% more than in January-May 2009, the government reported Thursday.

All the alumina was exported to Russia and was valued at $159.85 million.

Alumina exports in May totaled 109,060 tons, 9.4% more than in the year-earlier month, though 1% less than in April this year. The exported alumina in May was valued at $30.79 million compared to $30.8 million in April this year.

In 2009 Ukraine exported 1.396 million tons of alumina valued at $327.38 million, most of it to Russia.
