MANILA, Jun 22, 2010 (Dow Jones Commodities News via Comtex) -- Alcorn Gold Resources Corp. (APM.PH) said Wednesday it has secured from the government a permit to explore for potential copper reserves in the central Philippines.
The permit, issued by the Mines and Geosciences Bureau, covers a contiguous area of 700 hectares in Concepcion town in Iloilo province.
"The exploration program is designed to confirm and qualify the presence of previously detected surface presence of copper-bearing outcrops and possibly delineate mineable reserves of copper ore," the company said in a statement to the stock exchange.
The exploration permit is good for two years and is renewable up to six years.
