SHANGHAI, Jun. 22 (SMM) -- Domestic selenium dioxide sluggishly traded at RMB 400/kg, and suppliers' unwillingness to move goods was strong.
Selenium dioxide prices quickly fell around RMB 400/kg in early June due to shrinking demand, given that an increasing number of EMM producers have halted production. Currently, supply of domestic selenium dioxide is in surplus. However, overseas selenium dioxide prices were relatively firm, and received relatively strong support at RMB 620,000/mt. Selenium dioxide suppliers are all suffering losses due to high cost and low selling prices. Some producers halted production and waiting for a turning point to occur.
SMM believes that current selenium dioxide price performance shall be weak, and any improvement shall relay on the improvement of operating rates at EMM producers.
