Tongwei Group to Start 3,000-ton Silicon Project

SHANGHAI, June 9 -- Tongwei Group, the parent of Tongwei Co Ltd, has kicked off construction on a polycrystalline silicon project, which will cost RMB 2 billion and will have an annual polycrystalline silicon output of more than 3,000 tons, said the group's Chairman Liu Hanyuan on Jun. 6.

The project is the first large silicon project of the company after the listed subsidiary separated its silicon business to parent company in March.

According to the Shanghai-listed company's website, it currently has more than 80 subsidiaries and branches and owns eight research and development centers. The enterprise is capable of producing over 6 million tons of feedstuffs per year.
