Chongqing Property Tax Awaits State Council Approval, News Says

SHANGHAI, June 2 -- Chongqing city in southwest China is awaiting approval from the State Council for a residential property tax, the CQNews reported, citing Liu Wei, head of the local finance bureau.

The property tax is aimed at promoting the healthy development of the housing market, the Sichuan province-based online news site cited Liu as saying.
