Century Aluminum, USW Extend Hawesville Labor Pact

NEW YORK, May 5 -- Century Aluminum of Kentucky, a Century Aluminum Co (CENX.O: Quote) subsidiary, and the United Steelworkers union agreed to extend, for a third time, the labor contract covering workers at the Hawesville, Kentucky smelter.

The agreement, originally scheduled to expire on March 31, will now last to May 7 at 12:01 a.m. local time.

The contract covers approximately 500 hourly workers at the Hawesville aluminum smelter.

Monterey, California-based Century Aluminum owns primary aluminum facilities in the United States and Iceland.
