UPDATE 1-No Damage Reported After Strong Chile Quake

SANTIAGO, May 3 (Reuters) - A 6.4-magnitude quake shook southern Chile late on Monday, but an official at the state emergency office, Onemi, said there were no immediate reports of any damage.
 
The quake struck 68 miles (109 kms) northwest of the southern city of Temuco, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

Chile's Navy said there was no tsunami warning.

The latest quake followed an 8.8-magnitude earthquake on Feb. 27 that killed hundreds of people, ravaged towns and hit the forestry and steel industries in south-central Chile.

The area hit by Monday's quake is hundreds of miles south of the country's main copper mines, which were largely spared by the February earthquake. Chile is the world's top copper producer.
